Its love that leaves and breaks the seal" "look me in the heart and unbreak broken, it wont happen More importantly, i think the song is about that moment when your partner fully resolves that its over, especially when you haven't. where does the good go? how can you love someone and then after you break up can there be so much ugliness? After a breakup, especially if 2 people really loved each other, they tend to HATE each other and feel really bitter. but I really think whats important about it is that it is reflecting on a relationship, all of which have both good and bad parts, and wondering literally where all the good things go when its over. General CommentThis song is pretty obviously a breakup song. once again knowing deep down inside that's not a charitable sentiment > Anger at other lover's in the streets expressing love when their love has passed on, and delighting when other's relationships break apart to share in the grief. a wry acknowledgment that the good in the self isn't really there with the joy expressed over the other's downfall > rejected lover publicly exposed and at first angered by the other's happiness, now crowing jubilantly over their new misfortune. > general disillusionment with how other's perceive you and happy when the table's turn, knowing deep down inside that's not a charitable sentiment How do you live so happily while I am sad and broken down Where do you go when you're in love and the world knows > Mourning the death of a relationship of someone who has actually passed (more literal) > the bubble of lost love bursts the idealism of a perfect happy relationship > A self examination of realizing defeat in losing self-love and assessing the wreckage It's love that leaves and breaks the seal > Possibly even a cry to a lover passing on to reaffirm their love with death causing the broken heart. > It's a challenge to an ex-lover or to the one rejecting a potential relationship > A challenge to the self to pick up the pieces. Look me in the heart and unbreak broken, it won't happen ![]() Look me in the eye and promise no love's like our love Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive ![]() > Expressing the bereaved one's grief upon the dying lover, and raging futilely against the inevitable- asking the universe where has all the good gone and unable to let their lover pass on ("how do you know when to let go") > It could be asking a rhetorical question of "Where does the good of a relationship go?" or "where does the good of me go with what is left over after a heart break?" > To see the meaning of a broken dream or ambition, watch "Being Erica- Episode 1 season 1". Where do you go with your broken heart in tow To me the song can have three general meanings:ġ) Self defeat over a lost ambition or dreamĢ) The end of a relationship- real or desired (and subsequently rejected)ģ) The dying of a great love, and the bereaved one's grief expressed Therefore, whatever Tegan & Sara originally intended is irrelevant, their gift of song writing articulates a more universal perspective and not pure narrative. ![]() For anyone who has been devastated by heartbreak can definitely relate in their own unique way. Whether a real or imagined relationship, a sea of mixed emotions is experienced by this person whose heart is broken for some reason or another (not necessarily with another person). General CommentThis song definitely seems to come from a person who is expressing an internal dialogue. ![]() Look me in the heart (where does the good go?)Īnd tell me that you won't go (where does the good go?)Īnd promise no love is like our love (where does the good go?)Īnd un-break broken, it won't happen (where does the good go?)
